What’s Gut Health Got To Do With It?

If you were around to witness the mini breakdown I shared in my last email, then you get how much I needed some real, healing change after my long summer.

Something to help boost my energy, motivation, and mood.

Taking a few rest days wasn’t cutting it, so I started the Purium Ten-Day Cleanse to reset my gut health.

Why was I focusing on my gut health you ask?

Because, as some of you may know, our gut health dictates our mental health.

Emerging research shows that 95% of our serotonin and 50% of our dopamine is produced in the gut, not our brain. 🤯

That means, whatever we’re putting into our stomaches is directly correlated to our moods, emotions, hormones, and energy. Which is why I needed the cleanse.

I had done this cleanse before with a dear friend Monica Biery (hi Monica!) She's a certified nutritionist, among other things, and stands behind this product wholeheartedly for many reasons.

You can hear Monica's story about why she got into gut health healing by clicking here for episode two of the Wholistic Approach to Healing podcast. (Oh, and if you're looking for a Purium discount code, she's offering 25% off with: balance7)

Anyhoo, back to the cleanse…

For ten days I drank Purium green shakes three times a day, using their nutrient dense powder mixed with water or coconut water. Then, I megadosed supplements that flush my body of harmful toxins and parasites (which most people have), reducing inflammation, increasing my immunity and digestion while building a healthier gut biome for billions of bacteria to live! 🥳

But what I love most about this cleanse is that I can still EAT

They have a specific list of foods to help curve hunger, so you never have to worry about going hungry. The point isn’t to starve yourself, the point is to PACK your body full of great, organic nutrients, while eliminating the bad stuff. 💪

The first few days I didn’t feel much different, but day five was GREAT

I felt the slump I was in fade and in it's place I found more energy, clarity and motivation. My productivity soared as I busted through computer work for the first time in weeks. And, luckily, those feelings have stuck around.

Experiencing that shift is a prime example of why I am passionate about taking a wholistic approach to healing. It could've been really easy to fall into the trap of thinking there was something seriously going on with my mental health when my mood, energy and motivation dropped for a few weeks.

But I am grateful to have various tools in my toolkit to use when I am not feeling my best, and nutrition is definitely one of those tools.

What we put in our body - food, drink and otherwise - has a HUGE impact on our health. So the equation is simple: the better the nutrients, the better we feel.
