What Does Your Intuition Say?
Recently, the topic of intuition has been popping up in conversations.
Does it exist?
Do only some people have it?
Is it a mystical force outside yourself?
Or is it based on your subconscious and past experiences?
All great questions and all kinda unknown! At least to the average person.
I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t know the “right answer” but for me, being “right” doesn’t really matter in this case.
What matters is what I EXPERIENCE, what I FEEL, what SERVES me, and doesn’t serve me.
For example, you know that moment when your gut tells you something and you go AGAINST it? That feeling is the WORST!
That feeling was why I went on a quest to connect more with my intuition.
See, in childhood I was taught not only to ignore my intuition, but to actually go against it.
I was put in situations where I was forced to do the opposite of what I knew was right and as a result, it made life very confusing and challenging. And I’m NOT the only one.
Most people had their feelings and gut instincts invalided so they learned to question every move they make.
So how do you KNOW when it’s your intuition talking? For me, it’s the quiet, clear, soft voice in my head. It’s the one that feels TRUE and isn't accompanied by fear, anxiety or doubt.
The actions I'm taking might be scary, but the knowing is calm. It’s peaceful. Another way to tell is by your BODY’S reaction.
How does your body feel?
Do you have tingles all over?
Are there certain butterflies in the stomach?
Is there a sense of safety in the body?
Or does your body rebel against you in negative situations? That's a sign too!
One way to PRACTICE listening to your intuition is by tuning into the subtleties of life and then taking ACTION.
Are you feeling a feeling? Investigate and validate that feeling.
Do you need to go to the bathroom? Take a break.
You’re craving an apple? Go find some fruit.
Is your stomach full? Push your plate away.
Are you sleepy? Turn off the screen.
These little practices help us LISTEN to ourselves, and when we listen to ourselves, we build TRUST with ourselves. And when we trust ourselves, that is when we no longer care if intuition is real or not, because we’re too busy actually LIVING it.
So, what’s your relationship with your intuition?
