IFS-Informed Parts Work

Online therapy in Sacramento & throughout California

“Part of me thinks this is good idea, but another part of me is still unsure.”

If you’ve ever said a statement like that you’re already familiar with Parts Work.

Or, if you’ve seen the Pixar movie “Inside Out”, you’ve already gotten a sneak peek of Internal Family Systems.  If not, check out this clip from the movie.

The truth is, we all have many different parts of ourselves that think, feel and want different things.

For example, you can probably identify the internal voice in your hear that beats you up and tells you you’re not good enough. That’s the Inner Critic.

Or during moments of stress when you just want to crawl into bed and throw the covers over your head, that’s the Inner Child.

These inner voices can feel confusing—even conflicting—but they all have one thing in common: they’re trying to help you survive.

How Parts Work helps

At Wholistic Approach Therapy, instead of pushing these parts of yourself away, we get curious about them.

This helps you move beyond simply understanding your patterns, into actually changing your patterns.

During sessions you’ll learn how to:

  • Befriend and turn down the volume of your Inner Critic.

  • Soothe your overwhelmed Inner Child.

  • And strengthen your grounded, compassionate Adult-Self.

Working with these parts help you not just make sense of your inner world, but actually feel more whole, safe, and connected in your daily life.

You don’t need to get rid of your parts.

You just need to bring them together.

FYI: After 15 years of study and practice, Parts Work is my passion and my speciality. This is not traditional Internal Family Systems (IFS), but a simplified Parts Work model that is great for beginners and for those already familiar with IFS and Parts Work.

  • Yes. If you are eligible to use out-of-network benefits from your insurance, then you would pay for each session and then each month, I provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Typically they will reimburse you for 60-80% of the cost of each session.

Please check with your insurance company to see if you have out-of-network benefits by calling the member services number on the back of your health insurance card.

  • I am currently only licensed to work with residents of California. You must live in California in order for us to work together. However, we can discuss coaching options if you live outside of California.

  • No. Therapy looks different for everyone. With that said, I do recommend that new clients attend 1 session per week for at least 1 month so we can build a relationship and to get a good start to working toward your goals.

After this, we can explore what would make sense for you depending on what you’re dealing with and what your financial situation is too.
